Dr. Mike Zhang is a professor and Turner Fellow of Engineering in the department of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech since 2001. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Iowa State University in 1999. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, he worked as a research scientist in Covance Biotechnology Services at Research Triangle Park, NC. His current research focuses on the use of a hybrid nanoparticle platform to develop vaccines against infectious diseases and psychoactive compounds. He has ~80 peer-reviewed journal publications, and he has an h-index of 34.

Professor Vladimir G. Chigrinov is Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1999. He is an Expert in Flat Panel Technology in Russia, recognized by the World Technology Evaluation Centre, 1994, and SID Fellow since 2008. He is an author of 6 books, 31 reviews and book chapters, about 322 journal papers, more than 677 Conference presentations, and 121 patents and patent applications including 38 US patents in the field of liquid crystals since 1974. He got Excellent Research Award of HKUST School of Engineering in 2012. He obtained Gold Medal and The Best Award in the Invention & Innovation Awards 2014 held at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2014, which was hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 20-22 Feb 2014. Dr. Manoj Gupta was a former Head of Materials Division of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Director designate of Materials Science and Engineering Initiative at NUS, Singapore. He did his Ph.D. from University of California, Irvine, USA (1992), and postdoctoral research at University of Alberta, Canada (1992). In August 2017 he was highlighted among Top 1% Scientist of the World Position by The Universal Scientific Education and Research Network and among 2.5% among scientists as per Researchgate. To his credit are: (i) Disintegrated Melt Deposition technique and (ii) Hybrid Microwave Sintering technique, an energy efficient solid-state processing method to synthesize alloys/micro/nano-composites. He has published over 650 peer reviewed journal papers and owns two US patents and one Trade Secret. His current h-index is 81 and citations are greater than 22000. He has also co-authored eight books, published by John Wiley, Springer and MRF - USA. He is Editor-in-chief/Editor of twelve international peer reviewed journals. A multiple award winner, he actively collaborate/visit Japan, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, USA and India as a visiting researcher, professor and chair professor.

Dr. Makoto Ogawa received his BS and MS degrees in Applied Chemistry from Waseda University in 1987 and 1989. His doctorate was earned at Waseda University in 1992 under the direction of Professor Chuzo Kato. After the PostDoctral study at The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) as a special researcher for the basic science program, Science and Technology Agency, Japan, he moved to Department of Earth Sciences, Waseda University in 1995 where he became a Professor in 2004. He was a researcher of PRESTO, Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST) from 1995 to 2000. From 2014, he moved to Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) as a professor of School of Energy Science and Engineering. Presently, he is a council of International Association for the Study of Clays (AIPEA), Associate editor of Applied Clay Science and Recent Patens in Nanotechnology. He has authored more than 300 original research papers and several tens of reviews and book chapters. The number of citation is over 12,000 times and his present h-index is 60.

Franck Cleymand, Senior Lecturer (MCU-HC- HdR; CNU 33), is head of a pluridisciplinar research team "Dolphin: nano-biomaterials for life" that he has created. He does research in Physical Chemistry, Surface Chemistry and Materials Chemistry. He conducts translational research in Nanomedicine field, including the use of biomaterials and cells to develop original concepts for regenerative and personalized medicine. Biomimetic approaches and nano/micro-technology are used to obtain medical devices, for therapies or in drug screening, with improved structural and functional properties w. Franck Cleymand can point to +98 articles in peer review journals, + 100 Communications, 8 theses + 7 in progresses. He has an h-index of 22, his work is cited + 970 times (Google Scholar). Mr. Shu-Lin Bai is now professor at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Peking University, China. He obtained BS (1983) on Materials Science and Engineering and MS (1986) on Experimental Mechanics from Dalian University of Science and Technology, China respectively, then PhD (1993) on Mechanics of Materials from Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures de Paris, France. His expertise is in the area of polymer composites filled with particles and fibers, specially on processing and thermal, electrical and mechanical properties. His current research work focuses on thermal interface materials applicable for thermal management of electronic devices, including design, manufacture and performance of nanocomposites filled with graphene, CNTs, BN, etc. He is founder, chairman/co-chairman of Asia-Europe Symposium on Processing and Properties of Reinforced Polymers. He has published more than 150 journal papers and 40 conference papers.

Antonio Bob Santos holds a PhD in Economics from ISCTE-IUL, with research in innovation policies and open innovation. Antonio integrates the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Science and Technology since 2022. Between 2021-2022 was the Executive Coordinator of the "Impulso Jovens STEAM" and "Impulso Adultos" Programs of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. He was a member of the Board of Directors of ANI - National Innovation Agency (2018-2021), in the area of capacity building for the National Innovation System (CoLab, Interface Centres, Smart Specialization Strategy, Public Procurement for Innovation, etc.). Between 2018-2021 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Innovation, Technology and Circular Economy Fund, and has also been a representative of the Science and Technology areas on the Economic and Social Council since 2017. In 2019 he was the National Delegate of the Permanent Working Group on Open Science and Innovation (OSI) of ERAC (European Research and Innovation Area Committee). Since 2001, he has collaborated with various members of the Portuguese Governments on Innovation Policy subjects. He was innovation project manager at UMIC (Presidency of the Council of Ministers) and collaborated with CEiiA in Smart Cities projects. Antonio has also been invited over the years to teach in Higher Education institutions, at Masters and Postgraduate level, being also author of academic and non-academic articles.

Dr. Katekani Shingange is a distinguished scientist within the Advanced Materials Division at Mintek in South Africa. She obtained a PhD in Physics from the University of the Free State in 2020. Her research interests are surface science of powders and thin films of optoelectronic semiconducting metal oxides applied to gas sensing technology for the selective and sensitive detection of gas molecules.”

Graduated in 2017 as an Energy Engineer from the School of Energy at the International University of Rabat (IUR), with an exchange program at the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux (EEIGM), the École Nationale Supérieure d'Électricité et Mécanique (ENSEM), and the Faculté des Sciences et Technologies (FST) at the University of Lorraine in Nancy. In 2018, Ayat-Allah obtained her master’s degree from the Ecole Polytechnique, with a thesis carried out at the Laboratoire de Génie Électrique & Électronique de Paris (GeePs) at CentraleSupélec. In 2021, Ayat-Allah obtained her Ph.D. from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), specifically within the Ecole Polytechnique and the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique - Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (LMD-IPSL). Her thesis focuses on modeling and optimizing renewable energy systems, emphasizing flexibility options such as various energy storage configurations, as well as spatio-temporal complementarities, in the context of different renewable energy penetration scenarios. It takes into account current and future climate conditions influenced by climate change scenarios. In 2022, she held the position of postdoctoral researcher and group leader in modeling at a research platform dedicated to solar energy. Currently, she is a researcher at the Laboratory of Renewable Energy and Advanced Materials (LERMA) and an assistant professor at the College of Engineering and Architecture at the IUR. Her research has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations as a speaker. Additionally, she participates in scientific outreach activities related to climate change, energy flexibility, and hydrogen.
